Macmillan Cancer Support Manager
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the next phase of development of our newly opened Macmillan Cancer Support Centre at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.
The Centre provides a welcoming and accessible space for people affected by cancer, their families and carers, offering high-quality information, practical and emotional support and access to personalised care.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic leader to establish and embed a comprehensive support service and ensure the Centre becomes an integral part of cancer care across the organisation and local community. Working with clinical teams, Macmillan Cancer Support and wider health, care and community partners, you will shape the Centre’s services, develop partnerships and increase its reach and accessibility.
You will lead the Centre team and volunteers and play a key role in delivering the Trust’s Personalised Care agenda, including supporting our Cancer Care Coordinator workforce.
We welcome applicants from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds who can combine strong leadership and service development skills with excellent communication and a commitment to improving the experience of people affected by cancer.
This is a unique opportunity to take a newly opened Centre and shape what it becomes for the people of Stockport.
Responsibilities
The Macmillan Cancer Support Manager is responsible for developing, leading and managing comprehensive, high-quality cancer information and support services both within the centre and in the community. This role involves professional leadership, service evaluation, volunteer coordination, financial oversight, and ensuring equitable access to services. The postholder will act as a role model and expert resource, promoting excellence in personalised cancer care, aligned with Macmillan Cancer Support values, the NHS Cancer Plan, and regional and local priorities.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Centre through its next phase of development, establishing and embedding the services delivered from the new facility and developing its reach across the organisation and local community. The postholder will have significant scope to shape the service, working closely with patients, clinical teams, Macmillan Cancer Support and wider health, care and community partners.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining service development with the day-to-day management of the Centre, its staff and volunteers. You will also play an important role in developing personalised cancer care across the Trust, including supporting our Cancer Care Coordinator workforce and ensuring people affected by cancer have access to high-quality information, holistic support and appropriate onward services.
We are looking for someone who can combine strong leadership and organisational skills with excellent communication, compassion and attention to detail. We welcome applications from candidates from both clinical and non-clinical backgrounds.
