Role Overview

To develop leadership, innovation, and clinical excellence in the field of lung cancer nursing. To collaborate with the Lead Nurse and multidisciplinary team to deliver a lung cancer nursing service which will support patients and families throughout the course of their illness. This would include symptom control, provision of information, acting as key worker, first point of contact for the lung multi-disciplinary teams, and providing expert advice. To provide a supportive proactive service which is responsive to the needs of patients and families. The post holder should be proactive in devising innovative service developments to improve patient care and be responsible for implementing those changes.

To assist in the provision of professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the care of the patient with cancer, acting as a resource to provide information and support to patients, carers, and staff.

To liaise effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to achieve a seamless specialist service.

To ensure that every patient has a plan of care and liaise with other teams to ensure that this is not compromised.
