An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated nurse to lead the Macmillan Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Team. You will provide expert specialist nursing care and leadership for patients with suspected or diagnosed lung cancer, ensuring high-quality, personalised care throughout the patient pathway.
Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will act as a clinical expert, key worker and patient advocate while supporting service development, quality improvement, education and research. This role offers an excellent opportunity to shape and develop lung cancer services while leading a dedicated specialist nursing team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical and operational leadership to the Lung Cancer CNS Team.
- Deliver expert care, support and advice for patients with suspected or confirmed lung cancer.
- Coordinate patient care across the cancer pathway, ensuring timely access to treatment and support services.
- Act as a key worker and advocate for patients and their families.
- Lead holistic needs assessments, personalised care planning and supportive care interventions.
- Work collaboratively with the Lung Cancer MDT and wider healthcare teams to deliver seamless patient care.
- Line manage, support and develop the specialist nursing team.
- Lead service improvement, audit, governance and education initiatives.
- Contribute to the strategic development of lung cancer services and the achievement of national cancer standards.
