Who We Want
We’re looking for a Senior Magento Developer with strong agency experience to join our remote team. You’ll bring over 5 years of hands-on Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce development, with a solid understanding of software architecture, coding best practices, and the full web development lifecycle.
Reporting to the Head of Development, you’ll join a team passionate about maintaining best practice coding standards with regular reviews, discussions, and training. Working on a variety of exciting projects, including Magento Open Source, Adobe Commerce, and Adobe Commerce Cloud, this role offers the chance to work for a Magento Partner, deepen your expertise, gain certifications, and grow within a collaborative, experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
Authoring Code
- Be a technical escalation point from their teams or from any area of the business
- Review quality of code base at regular intervals i.e. the responsibility to uphold standards of practice
- Follow GitFlow best practices
- Be able to research technical spikes of uncertainty in tasks
- Approach code optimisation with commercial awareness and be able to clearly communicate findings to the Head of Development

Designing Systems
- Lead hands-on in the software architecture and design of assigned projects
- Be able to code and determine scope for proof of concept applications (prototypes) when technical uncertainty exists
- Identify areas of optimisation of engineering practice and/or technical advancement to assist commercial goals
- Identify and escalate (to Project Manager or Head of Development) high risk practices to minimise impact to the business/client
- Review Functional/Integration Specifications & produce development estimates to deliver the work. Report areas of the spec that can be altered if the business needs to meet pre-set budgets.
Deployments
- Be able to author build scripts to create a deployment to environments (Test/Staging/Production)
- Be able to act in an advisory capacity on existing deployments where technical uncertainty arises
- Ability to setup a Linux environment ready to host an application, and define environment configuration based on application requirements (typically a LEMP stack with other service requirements such as RabbitMQ).
Backlog Ownership

- Assist Backlog Owners in
- Assigning tasks to the team based on technical challenges and individual/team strengths
- Progressing tasks with a high level of uncertainty / technical risk
Technical Pre-sales
- Assist with approach and strategy to meet technical uncertainty to meet a prospect's requirements
- Documentation of this approach through demonstration of any prototypes or concepts to the Sales teams and/or clients
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Magento Open Source, Adobe Commerce and Adobe Commerce Cloud
- Agency experience is essential – must be confident working across multiple projects with challenging timelines
- Knowledge of Hyva a plus
- Knowledge of Atlassian suite of products a plus
- Linux, Nginx
- Git-based source control
- MySQL / MariaDb
- JavaScript / HTML / CSS
- Redis, OpenSearch, and other server side technologies an advantage
