What is the job?
We are seeking an experienced Senior Catering Chef to lead the kitchen operation within an accommodation facility. The role is responsible for delivering a weekly set menu with high-quality, nutritious meals for approximately 100-150 guests during breakfast, lunch and dinner service in a buffet-style catering environment.
The successful candidate will oversee food production, manage food costs, supervise the kitchen team, and ensure food safety standards are maintained at all times.
This is an excellent opportunity for a chef seeking a stable work-life balance, with no split shifts, very limited late nights, and structured working hours.

About The Role
Your day to day
- Lead and supervise the day-to-day kitchen operation.
- Prepare and oversee the production of high-volume meals for buffet-style service.
- Manage and motivate kitchen staff, ensuring efficient service delivery.
- Monitor food quality, consistency, portion control, and presentation.
- Control food costs through effective purchasing and stock management.
- Compare supplier pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality.
- Maintain accurate stock records and minimise food waste.
- Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, health and safety, and HACCP requirements.
- Train and support junior chefs and kitchen assistants.
- Work closely with site management to ensure catering services meet operational requirements.

Required Criteria
- Minimum 2 years' experience as Chef de Partie or above
- Experience supervising or leading a kitchen team
- Previous experience in high-volume catering environments is highly desirable
- Experience in cafeterias, staff restaurants, hospitals, care homes, schools, universities, military catering, or mid-scale buffet operations would be advantageous
- Good understanding of food cost control and stock management
- Food Hygiene Certificate
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Basic computer skills (be able to order food supplies online)
