Role - Mainframe DBA
Location - Ipswich/Belfast, UK (Hybrid)
Type - Permanent/Fixed Term
Job Description:

Roles and Responsibility
- Manage and maintain IDMS schemas, subschemas, areas, sets, records, and database definitions.
- Support application development teams with database design, query optimization, and change implementation.
- Perform database performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, and implement permanent fixes.
- Execute database reorganization, backup, recovery, and migration activities.
- Review and implement database changes through release management processes.
- Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Prepare technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Coordinate with mainframe operations teams for batch jobs and system upgrades.
- Participate in on-call support and incident management as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience as an Application DBA.
- Good knowledge of CA IDMS / IDMS DB/DC in mainframe environments.
- Experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, and z/OS platform.
- Understanding of database structures such as schemas, areas, records, sets, and subschemas.
- Knowledge of backup/recovery procedures and disaster recovery processes.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in production support and high-pressure environments.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
