Maintenance Technician (Heavy Gang - Nights)
Location: Etches Park, Derby
Contract: 6-12 Months
Hours: Full Time
Shift: 4 on / 4 off, 19:15-06:30
Rate: £28.26 p/hr Umbrella
Overtime: £35.47 p/hr Umbrella
Working Environment: Site-based
Role
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a modern rolling stock maintenance depot in Derby.
You will be responsible for scheduled, preventative and corrective maintenance on rolling stock, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled maintenance, servicing and examinations on rolling stock.
- Fault-find and complete basic repairs and rectification work.
- Support train modifications, campaigns and the introduction of new trains.
- Undertake depot driving duties where required.
- Support maintenance activities at outstations, testing locations and mainline stations.
- Record maintenance activities and stock usage on the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
- Follow all health & safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Support Team Leaders and Production Managers in achieving the maintenance plan.
- Be willing to travel and occasionally stay overnight away from base.

Essential Requirements
- Network Rail Sentinel PTS
- Served apprenticeship in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering.
- NVQ Level 3 Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience working in a 24/7 rolling stock maintenance environment.
- Strong railway safety awareness.
- Experience with fault finding, repair and remote train diagnostics/laptops.
- Experience using Maintenance Management Systems (MMS) and reliability/availability data.
- Experience working at outstations or mainline stations.
- Experience carrying out modifications and campaigns on modern rolling stock.
- Competent in Manual Handling, COSHH, Working at Height, powered plant and tools.
