RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a committed individual to join our business, with 57 global locations, at an exciting period of growth. The right candidate will be supported throughout the programme as we seek to share expertise to aid learning. The Tool Room and Maintenance Departments are essential functions of the business that provide day to day support to new machinery the business is investing in. The skills obtained during this apprenticeship will path a solid foundation into a career within a leading Global Aerospace Industry.
Maintenance Element
- To Provide an effective and efficient service to ensure all manufacturing machinery and site services are maintained both electrically and mechanically through the planned maintenance schedule.
- To respond to breakdowns through in line with the priority system
- Determine cause of potential failure or performance deterioration, and either complete remedial work during shift or brief subsequent shift on issue, cause and recommended solution
- To record breakdown and task information on completion of repair or improvement using Piranha system.
- To undertake servicing of machines and ancillary equipment as per the relevant schedules
- To carry out facility repairs and maintenance as per the schedule or as and when required
- To source and obtain parts and materials as required following the procedures of the procurement system
- To maintain the relevant stock levels of spares and consumables reviewing and updating the register
- To ensure the correct tools and equipment are available to carry out the tasks and repairs
- To ensure 5S standards are always maintained in the maintenance workshop

Tool Room Element
Setting and operating all Toolroom manufacturing equipment:
- Spark eroders.
- Lathes
- Surface grinders
- Honing machines
- Lapping
- Milling
- Universal grinders
Setting and operating all Toolroom measuring equipment.
Tool development, to support current and future production requirements.
Working With Heading machine Setter Operators
QUALIFICATIONS
Please note that according to the new grading system, the new equivalent of a GCSE C Grade is a Grade 4 (with a Grade 5 being the equivalent of a high C/low B).
Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including:
- Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
- Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company
- Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
- In house training in line with your requirements.
- Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer
