MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT – FOUNDRY

SANDIACRE, NOTTINGHAM

UP TO £31,000 + £4,960 SHIFT ALLOWANCE

Shift Pattern:

  • Morning: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 – 15:30
  • Afternoon: Monday to Thursday 13:00 – 22:30

Are you practical, hands-on, and eager to develop a career in maintenance and engineering? We're looking for a proactive Maintenance Assistant to join our team, supporting the upkeep, repair and reliability of our plant, equipment and site facilities. Working alongside experienced maintenance technicians, you'll gain valuable exposure to preventative maintenance, fault finding, machine inspections and continuous improvement activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. If you're a motivated team player with a strong focus on safety, keen to learn new skills and make a real contribution to keeping operations running smoothly, we'd love to hear from you.

THE ROLE:

As a Maintenance Assistant you will be required to:

  • Assist maintenance technicians with preventative and reactive maintenance activities on plant, equipment, and facilities.
  • Support the completion and maintenance of documentation such as job sheets, service reports, permits to work (awareness), risk assessments, and maintenance records.
  • Carry out basic maintenance and housekeeping tasks within workshops and plant areas.
  • Assist with machine inspections and reporting of defects, faults, and maintenance requirements.
  • Help maintain machinery breakdown and planned maintenance records within the maintenance management system.
  • Support the identification, sourcing, collection, and storage of spare parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist contractors and maintenance personnel by ensuring work areas are prepared, safe, and accessible.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance stores and workshops.
  • Adhere to all safety, health, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintenance projects where required.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Be flexible and willing to work additional hours where reasonably required.
  • Promote and adhere to the Company's Values in Action.
  • Undertake any other duties deemed reasonable by management.

THE CANDIDATE:

The ideal Maintenance Assistant:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in maintenance activities
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely within a manufacturing environment
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude to learning
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to complete maintenance documentation
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training and development
  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, or workshop equipment
