At UPP Kent, we're looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our dedicated team, helping to ensure our student residences are safe, comfortable, and operating at their very best.
This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week from 11.30am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday. The salary is £27,912.00 per annum.
As a Maintenance Assistant, you'll play a key role in delivering an excellent living environment for our residents by:
- Carrying out reactive maintenance and repairs in line with service level agreements
- Providing a first-line response to maintenance issues across our accommodation
- Maintaining clean, safe, and presentable communal areas and external spaces throughout the year
- Supporting the safe movement of furniture, mattresses, white goods, and waste materials
- Identifying and reporting Health & Safety concerns and escalating issues where required
- Contributing to a positive student experience through excellent customer service

We’re looking for you to have some experience in a maintenance, facilities, or property environment, with strong communication and organizational skills and a genuine pride in delivering a high-quality service. Along with:
- An understanding of building services and safe working practices
- Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and a commitment to working safely at all times
- A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to support the wider team when needed
- The ability to work additional hours during peak student arrival and departure periods, when required and with notice
- A full UK driving licence
Most importantly, we're looking for someone with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a passion for making a difference. We will provide shadowing, training, and development to help you build your skills on the job and succeed in the role.
