Goodhood is looking for a reliable, hands-on and proactive Janitor / Facilities & Maintenance Assistant to help keep our store, café and warehouse clean, safe, well-maintained and presentable.
This is a practical role for someone who takes pride in their work, notices the small details and is happy to get stuck in wherever needed. Alongside regular cleaning duties, the role will involve basic maintenance, repairs and general upkeep across the Goodhood spaces.
Key Responsibilities
Café Cleaning & Hygiene:
- Carry out a thorough deep clean of the café every morning before opening.
- Clean and sanitise café toilets, including sinks, floors, mirrors and other surfaces.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the café.
- Clean café floors, surfaces, fixtures and other areas as required.
- Empty bins and manage waste appropriately.
- Identify and report any maintenance, hygiene or safety issues.
Store Cleaning:
- Keep the Goodhood store clean, tidy and presentable throughout the week.
- Regularly clean floors, surfaces, fixtures, windows and other customer-facing areas.
- Ensure staff areas and other non-public spaces are maintained to a good standard.
- Carry out additional cleaning when required, including after busy periods, deliveries or events.

Warehouse Cleaning & Organization:
- Maintain cleanliness and general tidiness throughout the warehouse.
- Clean floors, work areas and other warehouse spaces regularly.
- Keep walkways and working areas clear and safe.
- Assist with maintaining an organized and presentable working environment.
- Carry out deeper cleaning tasks as required.
Basic Maintenance & Repairs:
- Carry out basic repairs and general maintenance around the store, café and warehouse.
- Touch up paintwork and repair minor cosmetic damage.
- Fix or replace small fixtures and fittings where appropriate.
- Identify issues that require specialist attention and report them promptly.
- Help keep the buildings, furniture, fixtures and equipment in good condition.
- Take a proactive approach to spotting things that need fixing rather than waiting to be asked.

Person Specification
We are looking for someone who is:
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
- Practical and hands-on, with a natural ability to fix and maintain things.
- Highly organised and able to work independently.
- Detail-oriented and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
- Comfortable working across a retail store, café and warehouse environment.
- Able to manage regular cleaning routines while responding to ad-hoc maintenance needs.
- Physically able to carry out cleaning, moving and general maintenance tasks.
- Comfortable working around cleaning products and following appropriate health and safety procedures.
- Friendly, professional and respectful of the Goodhood team and working environment.
- Proactive, with a genuine “see it, sort it” attitude.
