About The Role
We are seeking a reliable and practical Hotel Maintenance Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to maintain the hotel, grounds, staff accommodation, and guest areas to a high standard, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our guests and employees.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with general maintenance experience and a good understanding of basic building repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general hotel maintenance and repair work.
- Undertake basic plumbing tasks, including repairing leaks, replacing taps, unblocking drains, and routine checks.
- Perform basic electrical maintenance, such as changing light fittings, replacing bulbs, and fault reporting (within competence and regulations).
- Complete painting and decorating projects throughout guest rooms, public areas, and staff accommodation.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance issues and ensure health and safety standards are met.
- Maintain hotel grounds and gardens, including grass cutting, trimming, weeding, planting, and general upkeep.
- Carry out carpentry and minor building repairs as required.
- Assist with room refurbishments and improvement projects.
- Ensure equipment, tools, and maintenance areas are kept clean, organised, and safe.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
- Assist with seasonal maintenance and winter preparation of the property.
- Support contractors working on-site when required.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, facilities, or property maintenance role.
- Practical knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Experience in painting and decorating.
- Ability to carry out general grounds and garden maintenance.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads.
- Good physical fitness and willingness to undertake manual tasks.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
