Job Overview

Join our Estates Maintenance Team and make a real difference behind the scenes at the Royal United Hospitals. You'll help keep our estate running smoothly, ensuring healthcare services are delivered in an environment that is safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for everyone who uses our facilities.

As part of the role, you'll take part in an on-call rota and will need to be able to reach the site within one hour when providing out-of-hours cover.

Main duties of the job

As a key member of our Estates Maintenance Team, you will carry out a broad range of painting, decorating, and general building maintenance work across both clinical and non-clinical areas of the Royal United Hospitals estate. From refreshing patient-facing spaces to supporting larger refurbishment projects, you'll help create and maintain environments that are safe, welcoming, and fit for outstanding patient care.

No two days are the same in this varied and rewarding role. You'll use your practical expertise to deliver high-quality workmanship, respond to maintenance needs, and contribute to projects that have a visible impact on the experience of patients, visitors, and staff.

We're looking for someone with proven painting and decorating experience, strong practical skills, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. If you take pride in your work and enjoy making a tangible difference every day, we'd love to hear from you.

Working for our organisation

We are proud to be part of BSW Hospitals Group - a formal partnership between the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. With a combined workforce of over 17,600 colleagues and a budget of 1.6 billion, the Group is united by a common purpose to deliver the best possible care to over 1 million people.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
