Job Purpose
The Electrical Apprentice will work alongside qualified electricians and maintenance engineers to develop the practical skills and technical knowledge required to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve electrical systems and equipment within a manufacturing assembly plant. The apprentice will complete an approved apprenticeship programme while contributing to the safe and efficient operation of production equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical equipment and machinery.
- Support preventative maintenance activities to minimise equipment downtime.
- Help diagnose electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment under supervision.
- Assist in replacing electrical components such as motors, sensors, switches, relays, contactors, and control devices.
- Learn to interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Assist with electrical wiring, cable routing, panel building, and equipment commissioning.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work documentation.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, organised, and safe.
- Keep the workshop clean, organised and compliant with company housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Follow all company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures, ensuring safe working practices are maintained at all times.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe isolation practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and support production efficiency initiatives.
- Attend college or training provider sessions as required and complete all apprenticeship coursework.
- Work effectively with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to achieve departmental objectives.

Experience Required
- Interest in electrical engineering and industrial maintenance.
- Good understanding of mathematics and science.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Must be able to work well in a close team.
