Maintenance Electrician

We're looking for a skilled and motivated Maintenance Electrician to join our team at our Lancaster Mill. Producing over 250,000 tonnes of animal feed each year, the mill plays a vital role in supporting our farming customers. You'll be a key part of the site team, helping to keep our operation running safely, reliably and efficiently through effective electrical maintenance and fault finding.

The Job

Power performance. Drive reliability. Keep production moving. This is a hands-on role where you'll play a critical part in maximising mill efficiency, reducing downtime and maintaining a safe working environment, while taking the lead on electrical projects and delivering results against demanding timescales and budgets.

Key aspects of the role are

• Report, diagnose and remedy plant defects, hazards or malfunctions ensuring that the most cost effective and time efficient solutions are utilised.
• To assist in the procurement of electrical equipment and spare equipment to provide best value solutions.
• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on plant and apparatus in accordance with the company maintenance system and schedule, including but not limited to rotating equipment, process controls and all electrical distribution networks on site.
• Assist during major maintenance periods and shut-downs as required to ensure that the plant can return to optimum availability and efficiency.
• Prevent breakdown of equipment by routinely inspecting and replacing old components in all areas of the mill.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
• Ensure that accurate records of completed maintenance and repairs are proactively maintained.
• Maintain the workshop and other work areas to ensure that they are kept in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
• Have a working knowledge of the mill and the production processes.
• Take an active role in proposing and developing plans for modifications to plant and equipment ensuring that a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis is also carried out.
• Carry out installation work in line with company approved new designs and modification works to existing equipment and plant.
• Ensure that you are able to provide the necessary assistance when you are not at work and you are on call.
• Keep up to date with all compliance issues and ensure that the relevant manager is informed of any adjustments required to fulfil such requirements.
• In case of emergency, ensure that the Site Emergency Procedure is followed.
• Communicate effectively with other areas of the business, especially operational and other maintenance staff.
• Report any hazardous situation, pest/vermin activity or environmental threat, which has not been previously assessed to the Site Manager immediately.
• Follow the permit to work system and ensure that all maintenance is carried out with safety in mind.
• Comply with site security arrangements and report any security risks to the Site Manager immediately.
• Ensure all contractors, customers and visitors to the site are dealt with courteously and that they comply with Site Safety requirements.
• Liaise with nominated high voltage contractors to ensure effective high voltage maintenance is arranged and carried out by them only.
• Promote a positive and prestigious company image at all times and especially towards contractors, customers and other visitors to site.
• Any other duties which might reasonably be requested in association with this role in order to meet the needs of the business.
• Adhere to Company and Group policies and procedures, including but not limited to those relating to Safety, Health and Environmental.
• Ensure that all operating procedures and other legal and company requirements are adhered to in respect of ongoing compliance, including but not limited to UFAS, FIAS, & NOPS assurance schemes.
