Maintenance Electrician - Calderdale Royal Hospital
EQUANS is looking for a Maintenance Electrician to work on our Calderdale Royal Hospital contract in Halifax. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
To undertake a proactive role to carry out maintenance, repairs and inspection of Electrical services, associated systems, plant and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures.
Impact
- Minimise penalty deductions by responding in a timely manner to all maintenance issues in accordance with the requirements of the Concession / Project Agreement.
- Ensure there is minimum disruption to wards and departments throughout the site whilst carrying out works.
- Ensure Infection Control requirements are implemented through information, instruction and training.
Complexity
- Carry out duties in accordance with safe working practices within statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines.
- Respond in a timely manner to breakdown requests.
- Ensure that there is minimum disruption to the Wards and Departments whilst carrying out work.
- Collaborate and co-operate with the Trust, partners and colleagues to deliver a customer focussed service.
- Where instructed, carry out repairs to the plant equipment to ensure the safety and security of the Trust’s premises, patients, staff and visitors.
- Carry out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works.
- Demonstrate flexibility in undertaking tasks with other trades and contractors.
- Safely operate all types of access equipment, hand and power tools in accordance with health & safety and manufacturers' guidelines.
- Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment and adherence to health & safety and infection control procedures.
- Respond in a safe manner to the effects of bad weather, i.e. Snow clearing, gritting, flooding, high winds, etc.
- Maintain records as appropriate.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Undertake training where necessary to learn other skills and to maintain and develop the requirements of the service.
- Participate in emergency Standby rota.
- Liaise and undertake duties at other Cofely managed projects as directed.

Qualifications & Experience
Experience
- Previously worked within a maintenance environment.
- Previously worked within a healthcare maintenance environment.
Skills/Ability/Knowledge
- At least 3 years post apprenticeship experience within a maintenance environment.
Education/Qualification
- Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to NVQ or City & Guilds level.
- GCSE / O Level Mathematics and English or equivalent.
- ONC / HNC in relevant engineering discipline.
Personal Qualities
- Good communication and customer care skills.
- Proactive approach to problem solving.
- Capable of working with minimum supervision.
- Work as a team player and pass on knowledge to others.
- Flexible and willing.
- Prepared to work out of hours as necessary.
- Prepared to travel to other sites within the Company.
- Possess a current valid driving licence.
