Description
Are you a Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical background and good electrical knowledge? Are you looking for a role where you can take ownership, develop your skills and become a key part of the engineering function? This could be a great opportunity to join a clean, well-run food manufacturing environment in Wellingborough.
Impact Recruitment are currently working with a family-owned fresh produce business supplying fruit, vegetables and salads to retailers, foodservice and wholesalers across the UK. Their Wellingborough site includes a fresh produce packing facility, and they are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent basis. This is a predominantly mechanical role with electrical elements, working across production machinery and site equipment, with a good level of autonomy for an ambitious engineer looking to develop their skills.

Duties
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery and site equipment.
- Respond to breakdowns and carry out reactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
- Fault-find, repair and maintain production machinery including conveyors, labelling machinery, sealing equipment and other production lines.
- Carry out inspections, servicing and general maintenance to ensure equipment remains safe and reliable.
- Complete workshop maintenance, repairs and general engineering tasks using hand and power tools.
- Identify recurring faults and contribute to improvements in machinery reliability.
- Support continuous improvement and automation projects across the site.
- Order spare parts and maintain accurate engineering records.
- Work closely with the Operations team to minimise downtime and keep production running efficiently.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, food hygiene and housekeeping.
The Ideal Candidate Must
- Have a strong mechanical engineering or maintenance background.
- Have good electrical knowledge and the ability to carry out basic electrical fault finding.
- Have experience with planned and reactive maintenance.
- Be confident fault finding and diagnosing mechanical issues.
- Be hands-on and comfortable carrying out repairs and maintenance across a production environment.
- Be able to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
- Have strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and develop.

Desirable
- 17th or 18th Edition electrical qualification.
- Previous multi-skilled engineering experience.
- Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar production environment.
- Experience working with conveyors, labelling, packaging or similar production machinery.
- Experience with automation or continuous improvement projects.
- CDM awareness.
