Role Description
We are seeking a practical, mechanically biased Night Shift Maintenance Engineer to carry out planned and preventative maintenance activities during non-production hours. The role is focused on improving plant reliability, reducing downtime, and ensuring equipment is fully available for daytime production operations.
This is a hands-on position suited to an experienced fitter who enjoys working independently whilst supporting a wider maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities
Planned Maintenance
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance activities on processing equipment.
- Complete scheduled maintenance tasks during night shift shutdown periods.
- Conduct inspections and condition monitoring of critical assets.
- Replace worn or damaged components before failure occurs.
Mechanical Maintenance
- Maintain conveyors, pulleys, bearings, rollers, and drive systems.
- Repair and replace gearboxes, motors, and transmission equipment.
- Carry out hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance activities.
- Complete alignment work and routine mechanical repairs.
Fabrication and Repairs
- Undertake basic fabrication work.
- Carry out MIG welding repairs.
- Repair guards, frames, platforms, hoppers, and plant structures.
- Fabricate simple modifications to improve reliability and maintainability.
Support During Breakdowns
- Assist with repair activities where required.
- Identify root causes of recurring failures.
- Provide basic fault diagnosis on electrical and automation systems.
- Escalate complex electrical and PLC issues to the appropriate personnel.
Housekeeping and Safety
- Follow all safe isolation and lock-off procedures.
- Maintain engineering workshop standards.
- Ensure maintenance records are completed accurately.
- Work in accordance with company health, safety, and environmental procedures.

Mechanical
- Strong mechanical fitting experience.

Fabrication
- MIG welding.

- Understanding of motors, sensors, and drives.
- Ability to identify PLC-related faults for escalation.
