Maintenance Engineer

Location: Rosyth, Fife
Contract: Permanent
Industry: Food Manufacturing

The Role

An established food manufacturing business is looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer to join its Engineering team at a busy production facility in Rosyth.

This is a hands-on engineering position responsible for supporting the reliability, efficiency, and performance of production equipment across the site.

Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose equipment faults, and work closely with Production to minimize downtime and keep the operation running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding and maintenance across production equipment.
  • Respond to breakdowns and resolve faults effectively to minimize production downtime.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with site schedules.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical equipment faults.
  • Support the reliability and performance of production and processing equipment.
  • Record maintenance activities accurately using the site's CMMS.
  • Work closely with Production to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and support root-cause investigation and corrective actions.
  • Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and engineering improvement projects.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and operational performance.
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers where required.
  • Ensure engineering activities are completed in accordance with Health & Safety, food safety, and site procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within engineering and workshop areas.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience with planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing production equipment.
  • Knowledge of three-phase motors, drives, sensors, and control systems.
  • Experience with mechanical and pneumatic systems.
  • Good understanding of engineering Health & Safety requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • A proactive approach to maintenance, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively alongside Production teams.
  • Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, or another fast-paced production environment would be particularly advantageous.

Qualifications

Ideally, you will be time-served or hold a recognized engineering qualification such as:

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship
  • SVQ/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • City & Guilds
  • HNC/HND in Electrical, Mechanical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering
  • An 18th Edition qualification would be advantageous for electrically biased engineers.
