Job Title: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Accrington, Lancashire
Salary: £44,000
Shift: 6–2 / 2–10 (1 weekend in 6)

Job Role of the Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

A great opportunity has opened for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established, fast-paced FMCG manufacturing site. This business is currently investing in improving its engineering standards and is looking for motivated engineers who want to make a real impact on site performance and reliability.

Working within a large engineering team, you will play a key role in ensuring production equipment runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. This is an ideal role for an engineer who thrives in a hands-on environment and is keen to drive improvements.

You will be responsible for carrying out electrical and mechanical maintenance, fault-finding, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a range of high-speed production and packaging machinery.

Sector – Factory Maintenance (FMCG)

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to schedule
  • Respond to breakdowns and perform rapid fault diagnosis
  • Maintain and repair production and packaging equipment
  • Record all maintenance activity to support asset history and reliability
  • Work to high engineering and safety standards, including food-safe practices
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site

Equipment You Will Work On

  • Conveyors, belts, bearings, and chains
  • Packaging machinery
  • Drives, sensors, inverters, and motors

Typical faults include:

  • Conveyor breakdowns and jams
  • Faulty sensors causing stoppages
  • Oven temperature issues
  • Packaging machine misfeeds
  • Pneumatic failures

Non-Negotiable Requirements

  • Multi-skilled maintenance experience in a manufacturing/factory environment
  • Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience within FMCG or food manufacturing
  • Exposure to high-volume production machinery
