Maintenance Engineer
Location: Aylesbury
Contract: 6-Month Contract
Rate: Up to £30 per hour - Negotiable
Shift Pattern: 4 On / 4 Off - Days (05:00 - 17:00)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a growing manufacturing operation based in Aylesbury on a 6-month contract.
This role offers the chance to work within a fast-paced production environment, supporting the reliability and performance of manufacturing and packaging equipment. As part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and continuous improvement activities to maximise operational efficiency and minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs to minimise downtime.
- Conduct routine inspections, servicing, and maintenance of production machinery.
- Support reactive maintenance requirements and breakdown response.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure smooth manufacturing processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing reliability, efficiency, and productivity.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and equipment history.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are documented and available for audit purposes.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions relating to equipment failures.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and upgrade projects as required.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor spare parts usage and support inventory management.

About this Maintenance Engineer role
You will be working on a wide range of manufacturing equipment, including:
- Blending vessels
- Pumps
- Filling machines
- Cartoners
- Inkjet printing systems
- Packaging equipment
Previous experience within FMCG, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food, or other high-volume manufacturing environments would be highly advantageous.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Technician, or Multi-Skilled Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience performing preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations within an industrial environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Desirable
- Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
- Electrical qualifications, including 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Experience within high-volume, high-speed manufacturing environments.
- Continuous Improvement experience.
- Experience with packaging and process machinery.
