Night Shift Maintenance Engineer
Stoke-on-Trent
£45,000 to £50,000 including shift allowance

Permanent Night Shift
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business looking to strengthen its engineering team with the appointment of a Night Shift Maintenance Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy production environment working a four-night week, taking ownership of maintenance activities while supporting production reliability and continuous improvement.
This role would suit a mechanically biased maintenance engineer who enjoys working independently and takes pride in keeping equipment running safely and efficiently.
The Role
Working permanent nights, you'll be responsible for maintaining production equipment, responding to breakdowns and ensuring planned maintenance is completed to minimise downtime. You'll also support ongoing improvement projects and help maintain a safe and organised engineering environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
