Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer
Greater London | c.£64,000 + Benefits | 42 Hours | 4 On / 4 Off – Days & Nights
About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to join a fast-paced, high-volume FMCG manufacturing operation. With reliability, automation and continuous improvement at the heart of the site, this is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem-solving and improving equipment performance.
You'll join a well-invested manufacturing site with a strong engineering culture, where your technical expertise will play an important role in maintaining production, improving reliability and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and automation faults across a range of production equipment.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance to maximise equipment availability.
- Respond quickly and effectively to production breakdowns and minimise downtime.
- Investigate recurring equipment failures and carry out root-cause analysis.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve reliability, efficiency and equipment performance.
- Contribute to site engineering KPIs, including OEE, downtime and equipment availability.
- Work closely with production teams to proactively identify and resolve engineering issues.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, quality and engineering excellence.
- Share technical knowledge and coach operators and colleagues where appropriate.

About You
You'll be a time-served multi-skilled engineer or hold a recognised engineering qualification such as C&G 2346-03, HNC or equivalent, with previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
You'll ideally have:
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities.
- Experience maintaining automated production machinery.
- A good understanding of industrial automation and control systems.
- Experience with planned and reactive maintenance.
- A structured approach to troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- A proactive mindset towards continuous improvement and reliability.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive, hands-on approach to engineering and problem-solving.
- The flexibility to work a rotating 4-on/4-off days and nights shift pattern.
