Welcome to Hovis. We are the proud guardians of over 130 years of baking experience that make up our iconic and much-loved brand. We produce bread and bakery products created with Hovis goodness at the heart of each. We deliver around 1.3million loaves, every day of the week throughout the UK and Ireland, where we also make Mothers Pride and Ormo products. 

We are 2,800 people working within 8 bakeries, 1 flour mill, and 2 regional distribution centres across the UK. We’re looking for a mechanically biased, multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to keep our high-speed production lines running safely and efficiently.

You’ll spend the majority of your time on mechanical fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance, with enough electrical knowledge to work safely, diagnose faults and support line recovery.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ideal for an engineer who enjoys fixing problems properly and minimising downtime.

We are open to strong engineers who have just passed their NVQ level 3 EPA as well as experienced engineers.

Key Responsibilities;

Mechanical fault finding and repair on production and packaging equipment Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance. Electrical fault diagnosis (sensors, motors, drives, panels). Safety focused, not design-led. Rapid response to breakdowns to keep production running Identify and implement reliability and improvement opportunities Work safely, following site and legal engineering standards

What We’re Looking For

Mechanical bias essential NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering(Multi-skilled or Electrical qualification an advantage) Manufacturing or FMCG maintenance experience Confident with mechanical systems: gearboxes, bearings, chains, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics Electrical safety awareness and fault-finding capability Practical, proactive engineer with a strong work ethic
