Role Description

The Maintenance Engineer role at Elis is a full-time, on-site position based in Wednesbury. The person in this role will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing production and service equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations. Day-to-day tasks include conducting routine inspections, performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults, and coordinating repairs with internal teams and external suppliers when needed. The Maintenance Engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement projects, update maintenance records, and follow all health, safety, and quality procedures. Collaboration with operations, engineering, and health and safety teams is essential to minimize downtime and support efficient service delivery.

  • Strong experience in Maintenance Engineering and Maintenance & Repair across industrial or service environments.
  • Proficiency in Equipment Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance, including routine inspections and scheduled servicing.
  • Hands-on Electrical Maintenance skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems safely.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices in a production or industrial setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, or equivalent in engineering, electrical, or mechanical discipline).
  • Previous experience in a high-throughput, service-focused or industrial environment is beneficial.
