Shift Pattern: Continental Shift - 2 Days, 2 Nights, 4 Off
Hours: 40.3 hours per week
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a highly technical manufacturing environment, providing hands-on engineering support across a range of complex, high-value production equipment.
Working on a 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off continental shift pattern, you will play a key role in maintaining equipment reliability, minimising downtime and supporting continuous improvement across a technically advanced manufacturing operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on fault finding, preventative maintenance and technically challenging equipment, with the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge within a high-reliability engineering environment.
Direct semiconductor experience is not essential. Engineers from aerospace, defence, automotive, pharmaceuticals, power generation, oil & gas, advanced manufacturing and the Armed Forces are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a rapid engineering response to equipment breakdowns, minimising downtime and disruption to production.
- Diagnose and repair complex electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, vacuum and control system faults.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance activities.
- Complete fault finding, diagnostics, equipment adjustments and component replacement.
- Work on a variety of highly specialised automated manufacturing equipment.
- Identify recurring equipment issues and support root-cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, uptime and OEE.
- Contribute to structured improvement methodologies including Kaizen, 6S and 8D.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, engineering documentation and breakdown reports.
- Monitor critical spares and support effective stock management to minimise equipment downtime.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to prioritise maintenance requirements.
- Participate in engineering and production meetings, providing updates on equipment performance and ongoing work.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with site procedures and relevant legislation.
- Support emergency response activities where required.
- Operate specialist site equipment, including forklift trucks, following appropriate training.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
