Multi-Skilled Engineer – Mechanical Bias - London | £40,000–£45,000 + Benefits
We are working with a rapidly growing commercial property and workspace business to recruit a Multi-Skilled Engineer with a mechanical bias to join its London-based engineering team. This is a hands-on, mobile role working across a portfolio of commercial buildings, providing first-line maintenance, fault finding and repairs. With the portfolio expanding significantly over the next 12 months, there is excellent scope for someone ambitious who wants to develop their technical skills and progress their career.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for a varied range of maintenance and engineering duties, including:
- First-line fault finding and diagnosis across mechanical, controls and basic electrical systems
- Carrying out mechanical repairs including valves, actuators, TRVs, tap cartridges and small pipework alterations
- Fan and motor replacements
- Taking pressure and temperature readings and identifying faults
- Conducting site inspections and identifying requirements for larger repairs
- Coordinating and overseeing specialist contractors where required
- General building maintenance and minor works, including light carpentry
- Supporting the wider operations team with day-to-day maintenance requirements

About You
We’re looking for someone with a strong practical maintenance background who is confident working independently across multiple sites. You should have:
- Previous experience within building maintenance or construction
- A strong mechanical skillset with a basic understanding of electrical systems
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
- Confidence using tools and maintenance equipment
- Strong communication skills and a professional, client-facing approach
- Good organisation and attention to detail
- A strong understanding of health & safety
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team

You will need an NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in plumbing, heating & ventilation, refrigeration & air conditioning, or mechanical engineering services. Additional qualifications such as Gas Safe, F-Gas, Legionella/L8 or 18th Edition would be advantageous.
Package
£40,000–£45,000 starting salary, plus 28 days' annual leave + Bank Holidays, performance rewards, fully funded training and qualifications, and a wider benefits package.
