Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Fornham St Martin
Salary: £40,000 - £44,000
Shift: 2's & 3's Shift Pattern (Days Only)
Job Role of the Maintenance Engineer:
We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Fornham St Martin, near Bury St Edmunds. This is an excellent opportunity to join a clean, highly regulated production environment where quality, reliability and continuous improvement are at the heart of the operation.
As the Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance and responding to breakdowns across a range of automated manufacturing and packaging equipment. You will work closely with the production team to minimise downtime, improve equipment reliability and support continuous improvement projects while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and GMP compliance.

Sector – Factory Maintenance
Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
Non-Negotiable Requirements for the Maintenance Engineer:
- Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent)
- Experience working within a manufacturing, production or factory environment
- Strong electrical and/or mechanical fault-finding abilities
- Full right to work in the UK
Requirements for the Maintenance Engineer:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production machinery
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults
- Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives
- Complete maintenance records accurately using the CMMS system
- Work closely with production to minimise downtime
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with GMP and company procedures
Desirable Requirements for the Maintenance Engineer:
- Previous experience within the pharmaceutical, food, FMCG or other highly regulated manufacturing environments
- Experience working on automated production or packaging machinery
- Knowledge of PLC fault finding
- 18th Edition or equivalent electrical qualification
