Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Maintenance Engineer role with an electrical bias, based at Greencore’s facility in Newark-On-Trent. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing production and packaging equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Typical tasks include:

The role involves collaborating closely with production, engineering, and health and safety teams, updating maintenance records, and adhering to all compliance and safety standards. The Maintenance Engineer will also contribute to equipment upgrades and process improvements, and may support training for colleagues on safe equipment use.

Qualifications

  • Strong core skills in Maintenance Engineering, including Equipment Maintenance and general Maintenance & Repair across manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Electrical Maintenance, with the ability to diagnose, repair, and optimize electrically biased systems and controls.
  • Experience implementing Preventive Maintenance programs to reduce breakdowns, improve reliability, and extend asset life.
  • Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety standards, safe isolation procedures, and compliance in a food or FMCG manufacturing environment (or similar).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals, use diagnostic tools, and work effectively within a fast-paced, high-volume production setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team on shifts.
  • Good communication skills and basic IT proficiency for maintenance reporting and use of CMMS or similar systems; experience in food manufacturing is advantageous.
