About Us
Our Confectionery team in York helps make some of Nestlé’s best-known brands, including KitKat, Aero and Yorkie. The factory uses controlled process plant and automated filling and packaging lines to produce high-quality products for consumers.
As Maintenance Engineer
You will help improve the reliability and performance of assets within the Aero Department. You will use maintenance systems, data and continuous improvement methods to reduce recurring losses, strengthen planned maintenance and support the factory’s long-term maintenance strategy.
Working closely with maintenance planners, technicians and operational colleagues, you will build capability across the department and help create safe, compliant and sustainable improvements.

- Maintenance strategy: Translate the factory maintenance strategy into robust departmental plans that improve asset intensity and equipment performance.
- Continuous improvement: Lead root cause analysis and improvement activity to reduce stoppages, prevent recurrence and strengthen maintenance standards.
- TPM capability: Support the expansion of Total Productive Maintenance by coaching technicians, craft colleagues, apprentices and operators.
- Standards and compliance: Help maintain Good Manufacturing Practice, quality, engineering change management and line-release requirements.
- Technical ownership: Build specialist knowledge of process-specific equipment and contribute to line and maintenance working group improvements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
