Job Title: Maintenance Team Leader

Location: Kempston, Bedford

Salary: £51,000 - £53,000

Shift: 3 Shift

Job Role of the Maintenance Team Leader:

As a Maintenance Team Leader, you will lead the engineering team within a fast-paced logistics and distribution environment, ensuring that all machinery and equipment operate efficiently and safely. You will coordinate planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of automated systems, conveyors and material handling equipment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Allocating engineering workloads
  • Supporting engineers with complex breakdowns
  • Managing maintenance schedules
  • Ensuring that all engineering activity is accurately recorded through the Maximo CMMS system
  • Playing a key role in driving engineering standards, reducing downtime and ensuring planned maintenance is completed effectively

The Maintenance Team Leader will remain hands-on when required, supporting the engineering team with electrical and mechanical fault finding while also managing day-to-day engineering priorities.

Non-Negotiable Requirements for the Maintenance Team Leader:

  • Previous experience working with Maximo CMMS is essential
  • Previous experience leading or supervising an engineering/maintenance team
  • Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance experience
  • Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance
  • Experience working within a fast-paced automated environment
  • Engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent

Requirements for the Maintenance Team Leader:

  • Confident allocating workloads and managing engineering priorities
  • Strong fault-finding and breakdown experience
  • Experience working with automated machinery, conveyors and material handling systems
  • Ability to manage PPM schedules through Maximo
  • Strong understanding of engineering health and safety procedures
  • Comfortable remaining hands-on and supporting engineers during complex breakdowns
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

Desirable Requirements for the Maintenance Team Leader:

  • Previous experience within logistics, distribution or automated warehousing
  • PLC fault-finding experience
  • Experience driving engineering improvements and reducing downtime
  • Previous experience managing engineering KPIs and maintenance performance
