Maintenance Engineer - Plumber
Location: Midlothian Community Hospital, 70 Eskbank Road, Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, EH22 3ND.
Hours of work: 38.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm
Contract: Permanent - Full Time
About the Role
As a Maintenance Engineer - Plumber, you’ll be responsible for:
- Undertaking planned, responsive, and cyclical maintenance work under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager.
- Undertaking maintenance duties in such a manner as to support the objectives of the client and with respect for the dignity and privacy of the resident group.
- Ensuring the safe operation of all plant, equipment, and tools.
- Always operating with safe working practices with due regard to Health and Safety Regulations, COSHH, Control of Infection, Waste Disposal etc in accordance with legislative requirements and policies and procedures of RFM.
- Full compliance of handheld technology (PDA & Tablet) using RFM’s management system FSI Go.
- Taking part in an On-Call rota providing 24hr, 365-day cover to the Facilities.
- Carrying out winter gritting and snow clearing duties as necessary as part of the RFM team.
- Reporting all accidents and incidents as per RFM’s Health and Safety Policy.
- Maintaining an awareness of RFM's policies, procedures, and objectives related to the successful delivery of the maintenance service.
- Providing support and assistance to other RFM personnel on site in the delivery of contracted services.
- Maintaining asset histories, maintenance records, and helpdesk reports, informing the RFM Contracts Manager or sub-contractors of any follow-up action that may be required.

- Experience in Commercial boilers and affiliated plant.
- IPAF / PASMA certified (an advantage).
- Experience in Managing Permit to Work Systems i.e. Working at Height use of high-level and powered access equipment, as well as the use of portable and fixed ladders.
- Experience in servicing Expansion Vessels, Water pump & water booster pump preferred.
- Water Management experience of L8.
- Good IT skills and fluency with a range of PC packages.
- Experience in Managing Permit to Work Systems i.e. Working at Height use of high-level and powered access equipment, as well as the use of portable and fixed ladders.
- Experience in servicing Expansion Vessels, Water pump & water booster pump preferred.
The successful candidate will require a PVG/Disclosure Check.
Who we’re looking for:
The post holder will work as part of the maintenance team with responsibility for the provision of a comprehensive, high-quality Reactive Maintenance, Planned, and Lifecycle service for the contract within Midlothian Community Hospital. The post holder will have a designated core skill (Plumbing) and will be expected to lead in this area but will also be expected to undertake any property maintenance work within the post holder’s range of competence. The post holder needs to have a flexible working approach as the role will require tasks carried out that may be out with contracted hours of work.
