Several opportunities have arisen to join the Capital, Estates & Facilities Department at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board as a Maintenance Engineer, specifically within our Shift Teams.

The Estates Department currently have five positions to work alongside and support the Estates Operational Teams in the Day to Day Operational Maintenance of the UHB Estate.

These roles are dedicated within our Shift Team, responsible for providing 24 hour response, in the event of an emergency, planned and reactive maintenance.

We are pleased to offer the availability of two electrical engineer positions and three mechanical engineering positions.

The requirement will be to work 12 hour shifts, both day and night dependant on the role.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual from a Mechanical engineering/Plumbing and electrical background to support the continual service provision of one of the largest Health Boards in Wales.

The department is going through an exciting time of Service Improvement to increase the support and enhance the patient experience ensuring the department is fit for the future.

We are looking to recruit someone who will ensure that we will excel in providing a safe, organised and highly efficient service, a person who can be innovative in their thinking and have the ability to make decisions for themselves, someone who can develop and support the service improvements of the department ensuring we are fit for the future.

Responsibilities

Perform work including activities which are complex and/or non-routine. Responsible for calibration and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment such as:

  • Hot and Cold-Water Systems
  • Low Pressure Hot Water Systems
  • Steam Raising Plant and associated equipment
  • Steam Sterilizers
  • Medical Gas Pipe Systems
  • Ventilation Systems
  • Hydrotherapy Pools
  • All water sampling and testing
  • Plumbing works
  • Water compliance testing

Working within the Shift and Mechanical Teams to provide a safe, well maintained water system, working towards set standards for water systems and environment.

Undertake planned maintenance, reactive repairs, minor improvements and support other trades and discretionary capital work across the UHB as directed by management. Ensure compliance with UHB safety standards and procedures at all times.

Provide multi-skilled engineering expertise across various Mechanical equipment and fabric.
