About The Role

Balfour Beatty Rail are recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join the team at our site in Hereford. Reporting to the Maintenance Team leader, the role purpose is to

operate within the Production Team as a Mechanical and electrical Maintenance Engineer working to planned maintenance schedules and reactive maintenance on machinery and electrical infrastructure within a steel fabrication facility.

What you'll be doing

  • Maintain plant and machinery within the Fabrication, Bundling & Overhead Line Stores area maintaining machinery and general duties as required to support all Operations.
  • Maintain both CNC and Manual equipment to fabricate steelwork.
  • Operate as part of a team undertaking tasks as required.
  • Work under an electrical permit system and approved safe system of work.
  • Work under a mechanical permit system and approved safe system of work.
  • Work as part of the maintenance team on proactive maintenance and breakdowns as required by the Team leaders and Fabrication Manager.
  • Carry out weekly audits for legionella testing.
  • Work safely at all times following risk assessments and work instructions and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Effective repairs of the boiler systems and all preventative maintenance.
  • Embrace our Zero Harm approach to safety.

Who we're looking for

  • Experience in use on CNC milling to be able to make tooling for production use.
  • Experience in the operation of overhead cranes and plant.
  • Experience in Forklift truck and telehandler operations.
  • Computer literate to read task sheets online training and safety documentation including wiring drawings and machine control schematics is desired.
  • Candidates must be positive and enthusiastic and support a 'can do' attitude.
  • Candidates must be reliable and support a continuous improvement culture.
  • Willingness to learn and embrace new ideas.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and be self-motivated.

Qualifications

  • Ideally an NVQ level 3 in electrical system and equipment or equivalent.
  • Ideally an NVQ level 3 in mechanical maintenance and installation -or equivalent.
  • Ideally 18th edition wiring regulations.
  • ESSW awareness training.
  • MSSW awareness training.
  • Ideally a PAT qualification.
  • NPORS counterbalance.
  • NPORS Telehandler including 360 slew.
  • Asbestos awareness training.
  • First aid at working certification.
  • Fire Marshall training.
