Shift Maintenance Engineer
£46,000 - £49,000 + Overtime | 12-Hour Shifts | Stafford Area
Staffbase are recruiting for an experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer / Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and expanding heavy industry manufacturing business at their busy plant near Stafford.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically strong maintenance engineer looking for a long-term position, competitive salary and substantial overtime opportunities.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault-finding and repair across a wide range of heavy industrial plant, machinery and site facilities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Planned and reactive mechanical and electrical maintenance
- Fault-finding and repair of industrial machinery and production equipment
- Maintenance of conveyors, crushers, screens, furnaces, cooling plant and associated equipment
- Hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance and repair
- Electrical fault-finding on control panels, motors, contactors, sensors and relays
- Basic electrical testing, repair and component replacement
- Site facilities and electrical maintenance
- Carrying out scheduled PPM / preventative maintenance
- Responding quickly to breakdowns and minimising production downtime
- Working safely and effectively within a heavy manufacturing environment

About You
We are looking for a competent Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with strong mechanical engineering skills and ideally some electrical fault-finding and repair experience.
Suitable candidates may have experience as:
- Maintenance Engineer
- Shift Maintenance Engineer
- Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
- Mechanical Engineer
- Electrical Maintenance Engineer
- Maintenance Technician
- Mechanical Technician
Ideally, you will have:
- Strong mechanical maintenance experience
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
- Basic to intermediate electrical fault-finding
- Experience working with industrial machinery and production equipment
- An engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, HNC or HND
- A practical, hands-on approach to maintenance and breakdown response
Experience within heavy industry, foundry, recycling, quarrying, aggregates, steel, manufacturing or process environments would be advantageous, although candidates with the required engineering skills from other industrial sectors will be considered.

Shift Pattern
4 days on / 3 days off – 12-hour shifts
- Days for approximately one month
- Then rotating onto nights
Salary & Benefits
- £46,000 - £49,000 basic salary – negotiable depending on experience
- Excellent overtime opportunities
- 28 days annual leave
