Role Description

This full-time, on-site Maintenance Engineer role is based at the VetPlus facility in Preston. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and building systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. The Maintenance Engineer will work closely with operations, quality, and facilities teams to support continuous improvement and compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in mechanical maintenance, equipment repair, and troubleshooting industrial machinery.
  • Experience with electrical systems, control panels, and basic PLC diagnostics in a manufacturing or processing environment.
  • Competence in preventive maintenance planning, use of maintenance management systems, and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, equipment manuals, and follow standard operating procedures with attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under time constraints.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across production, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in food, pharmaceutical, or nutraceutical manufacturing environments is beneficial, as is knowledge of GMP and hygiene standards.
