Maintenance Engineer

We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join the team at Caress Manufacturing Limited, part of the CQC Group of companies, including Quantum Turned Parts Limited, and Clinical Health Technologies Limited.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive maintenance, including fault-finding and emergency repairs, to keep equipment operating. The machinery the successful candidate will be working with includes packing, bottle filling, and automated assembly machines. The products handled in the facility include skin care bottled products, cleansing solutions, and ear studs. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out day-to-day operational and administrative tasks, allowing the Automation Engineer to designate focus on the development and implementation of automation projects, and provide support and supervision where required.

Key Accountabilities

Machine Maintenance

  • Respond swiftly to unexpected equipment faults, troubleshooting root causes, and carrying out emergency repairs
  • Independently troubleshoot electrical and PLC-related faults to minimise downtime and restore production equipment to operation
  • Perform routine PPM inspections, servicing, and maintenance activities to maximise machine performance and operational efficiency
  • Carry out tasks as delegated by the Automation Engineer

Documentation & Reporting

  • Record maintenance activities, complete required paperwork, and update maintenance schedules using digital reporting tools (E.G Odoo)

Health & Safety

  • Follow health and safety requirements as necessary in a machine/mechanical shop environment
  • Adhere to the Company’s environmental management system and actively contribute to environmental initiatives

Person Specification

Experience

  • Time-served engineer with proven experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or food and beverage industries
  • Experience working with thermoforming, bottling, and packaging machinery
  • Previous experience with PLCs (fault finding)

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work under your own initiative and act independently
  • Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload

Knowledge

  • Sound mechanical and electrical knowledge (mechanical bias)
  • Engineering apprenticeship qualification, or similar
  • Good computer literacy knowledge
  • A practical understanding of packaging/bottling line mechanics, and automated assembly machines
  • An understanding of pneumatics would be beneficial
