Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Contract)
Location: Manchester
Rate: £40.00 per hour - Outside IR35
Shift Pattern: 3 Shift Rotation (Mornings, Afternoons & Nights)
Gap Technical is recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing business for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team on a contract basis in Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with a strong electrical maintenance background to support the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of production machinery within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, working a 3-shift rotating pattern.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault finding, repairs and continuous improvement activities across a range of automated production equipment. You'll play a key role in minimising downtime and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
- Respond quickly to electrical breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs.
- Fault find on PLC-controlled machinery (diagnostic level).
- Maintain electrical control panels, motors, drives, sensors, inverters and associated equipment.
- Perform electrical inspections and ensure compliance with site standards.
- Support machine installations, upgrades and commissioning activities.
- Accurately complete maintenance records using the site's CMMS.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to maximise plant availability.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and statutory regulations.

Skills & Experience
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Proven experience within a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
- Experience carrying out both reactive and planned preventative maintenance.
- Willingness to work a 3-shift rotating pattern.
- Strong awareness of health and safety best practices.
