In-House Maintenance Engineer / Factory Fitter
Location: Hull, HU8
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
We are looking for an experienced In-House Maintenance Engineer / Factory Fitter to join our busy woodworking manufacturing team. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring our factory machinery and equipment are maintained to the highest standard, minimising downtime and supporting efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on all factory machinery.
- Maintain the daily running and reliability of woodworking machinery, including:
- Pneumatic and hydraulic pallet manufacturing machines
- Cross-cut (X-cut) saws
- Large woodworking machinery
- Compressors
- Biomass boiler
- Diesel heated kiln
- Welding and fabrication.
- Diagnose and repair faults on power tools and pneumatic nail guns.
- Maintain and monitor factory services, including:
- Fire alarm and sprinkler systems
- Air compressor systems
- Emergency lighting
- Manage stock levels of maintenance equipment, spare parts, fittings, consumables, and fuel.
- Perform welding and fabrication repairs where required.
- Troubleshoot and maintain electrical control systems, including three-phase diagnostics and fault finding.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Work closely with the production team to minimise machine downtime and maximise operational efficiency.
- Liaise with management and accurately record all breakdowns and machine downtime.

Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in an engineering or maintenance role within a manufacturing or woodworking environment.
- Strong mechanical engineering skills with the ability to diagnose and repair industrial machinery.
- Experience working with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and machinery control systems.
- Experience maintaining industrial woodworking machinery (preferred).
- Good organisational skills with experience managing maintenance stock and spare parts.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and respond quickly to breakdowns.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
