Job Description
In this role, you will be working for one of the UK's leading dedicated WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) processing facilities, who are looking for experienced Maintenance Fitters to join their engineering team in Sittingbourne.
This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining the site's recycling plant, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime. You'll play a key role in planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and continuous improvement across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the recycling plant
- Service granulators, including changing and setting knives, wear bars, screens, hydraulic systems, cleaning, and greasing
- Maintain ring crushers and other plant machinery
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimize downtime
- Work closely with Shift Managers and production teams to schedule maintenance effectively
- Monitor and maintain spare parts stock, reporting low stock levels when required
- Liaise with fabricators and external contractors where necessary
- Complete maintenance records and provide detailed shift handovers
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to reduce recurring faults
- Maintain workshop standards and ensure tools and equipment are stored correctly
- Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement

Requirements
- Previous experience in a maintenance fitting or industrial maintenance role
- Previous experience in a lead or supervisory position would be advantageous
- Knowledge of mechanical maintenance, hydraulics, and PLCs
- MIG welding experience
- Ability to prioritize workload and respond quickly to breakdowns
- Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel
- Forklift licence preferred, although training can be provided
- Experience within the waste, recycling, metals, or heavy industrial sector would be beneficial
- Flexible approach to working shifts and overtime

Shift Pattern
- 4 on, 4 off rotating shift pattern (2 days, 2 nights, followed by 4 days off). Shift times are 05:00 - 17:00 and 17:00 - 05:00.
- Every 8 weeks, you'll benefit from a 14-day rest break, with annual leave incorporated into the shift pattern.
- Overtime is also available.
£40000 / year
