3 months Contract with a Local Authority

Umbrella - £195.62 per day - Umbrella

Job Purpose

As a Maintenance Joiner (Multi-Skilled), you will deliver responsive repairs, void property repairs, planned maintenance, and housing refurbishment works across Charnwood Borough Council's housing stock. The role focuses on providing high-quality joinery and multi-trade repairs while delivering excellent customer service to tenants and residents.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  • Carry out a wide range of joinery repairs and maintenance works.
  • Complete responsive repairs and void property refurbishment works.
  • Undertake door, frame, lock, skirting, flooring, kitchen, and general carpentry repairs.
  • Carry out upgrade and replacement works within occupied and void properties.
  • Perform multi-skilled repairs alongside joinery duties.
  • Undertake basic associated trade works including tiling and finishing repairs where required.
  • Assess disrepair issues and determine the most appropriate repair solution.
  • Complete repairs within specified timescales and quality standards.
  • Liaise with tenants, residents, contractors, and other trades.
  • Accurately record works completed using PDA/mobile devices.
  • Order, collect, and manage materials required for repairs.
  • Ensure work areas are left clean, safe, and tidy.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Assist with out-of-hours and emergency repairs when required.
  • Support and supervise apprentices and trainees.
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns where appropriate.

Essential Experience Required

  • Significant experience as a Joiner/Carpenter.
  • Experience within:
    • Responsive Repairs
    • Void Property Repairs
    • Social Housing Maintenance
    • Property Maintenance
  • Experience carrying out:
    • Door repairs and replacements
    • Kitchen fitting and repairs
    • Flooring repairs
    • General carpentry and joinery works
    • Property refurbishment works
  • Experience working in occupied residential properties.
  • Experience using PDA/mobile job management systems.
  • Experience ordering and managing materials.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Ability to diagnose repair requirements and work independently.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • NVQ Level 2 in Joinery/Carpentry or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds Joinery qualification or equivalent.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to undertake multi-skilled trade activities.

Additional Information to Note

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • Location: Southfields Offices, Loughborough, Leicestershire.
  • Own vehicle may be required.
  • Participation in out-of-hours service may be required.
  • On-site interview at Council Offices, Southfields Road, Loughborough.
  • Interview Date: 24th September 2026.
  • Supplier Submission Deadline: 24th September 2026.
  • We work on bi-weekly payment schedule.
