Are you an experienced engineering professional with a passion for leadership, operational excellence, and hands-on problem solving? Harbro is seeking a Maintenance Lead to take ownership of the maintenance function at our Birkhill manufacturing site, ensuring our plant, equipment, and infrastructure operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

This is a key leadership role that combines strategic maintenance management with practical engineering expertise. You'll lead a dedicated maintenance team, drive continuous improvement initiatives, manage engineering projects, and play a critical role in supporting site performance and business growth.

About the Role

As Maintenance Lead, you will:

  • Lead and develop the site's maintenance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Manage proactive and reactive maintenance activities to maximize plant availability.
  • Drive Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) strategies and reliability improvements.
  • Oversee engineering projects, equipment upgrades, and site improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering and safety legislation.
  • Work closely with Production, Planning, Quality, HSE, and Group Engineering teams.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, contractors, spare parts, and engineering resources.
  • Champion continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and engineering best practice.

What We're Looking For

You will bring:

  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering discipline.
  • Proven leadership experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or process environment.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, asset management, and CMMS systems.
  • Excellent fault-finding, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • A strong commitment to Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.

Desirable Experience:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
  • Multi-skilled engineering background.
  • Experience within manufacturing, food production, agriculture, or process industries.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
