About the role
As a Maintenance Lead, you'll take ownership of Site Services maintenance, ensuring critical utilities and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standard. Your focus will be on maximising equipment reliability, reducing service interruptions and delivering effective asset care strategies across boilers, compressors, plant room equipment, effluent treatment systems and other Site Services assets.
You'll play a leading role in Health & Safety, ensuring maintenance activities are planned and carried out safely and in line with site procedures. This includes managing contractors, controlling permits to work, reviewing risk assessments and method statements, and ensuring robust isolation procedures and safe systems of work are in place before work begins.
Working closely with Engineering and Operations colleagues, you'll drive maintenance excellence by analysing losses, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing sustainable solutions. You'll support the delivery of Autonomous Maintenance, ensuring equipment remains safe, compliant and reliable.
You'll also play a key role in our zero loss journey, leading reliability improvements, supporting statutory compliance activities, delivering continuous improvement projects and providing technical expertise for capital projects across Site Services.

What will you be doing?
- Leading Site Services performance
- Taking ownership of critical Site Services equipment including boilers, compressors, plant room equipment, effluent treatment systems and other infrastructure, ensuring assets are reliable, efficient and fit for purpose whilst maintaining a safe operating environment
- Owning statutory servicing and inspections
- Ensuring all servicing, inspections and compliance activities are completed on time, with accurate records maintained and audit requirements met
- Leading maintenance, contractor management and fault resolution activities
- Using your technical expertise to coordinate maintenance activities, supervise contractors, review risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), manage permits to work and drive effective repairs to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime
- Owning Site Services compliance requirements
- Managing activities relating to LOLER inspections, legionella control, sprinkler systems, fire systems and other statutory requirements. Ensuring appropriate isolations, control measures and safe systems of work are in place to keep the site safe and compliant
- Driving continuous improvement and Health & Safety excellence
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency and performance while supporting the ongoing development of the Intersnack Working System (IWS) across Engineering. Promoting safe working practices, challenging unsafe behaviours, supporting incident investigations and ensuring Health & Safety actions are completed within agreed timescales
We’d love to hear from you if you can bring:
- A recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or Engineering qualification
- Combined with relevant experience maintaining Site Services, utilities or industrial equipment within a manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering experience
- With knowledge of equipment such as boilers, compressors, pumps, motors, control systems, plant room equipment and other utilities infrastructure
- A strong Health & Safety mindset
- With experience of safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements, isolation procedures and permit-to-work systems within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Experience managing contractors
- Confident coordinating contractors, reviewing risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), controlling site access and permits, and ensuring work is completed safely and to the required technical and site standards
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and IT skills
- Comfortable working independently while building effective relationships with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders across the site. Able to use Microsoft Office applications and maintain accurate maintenance, compliance and audit records
