Hello Brighton
We're recruiting for a Maintenance Manager to join us at No.124 Brighton, by GuestHouse.
Can you tame a grumpy boiler, outsmart a leaky pipe, and rally a team to rescue a whole row of rebellious lightbulbs before brunch? If your toolkit is your trusty sidekick and your motto is “no problem too quirky,” then we want you leading our maintenance crew.
Here at No.124 Brighton, by GuestHouse, we’re a small but stylish, family-run boutique hotel — and we’re looking for a Maintenance Manager who’s as resourceful as a seagull with a sandwich and loves keeping things running beautifully.
Please note: this is a full time role, that will include working weekends on a shift rota basis.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the maintenance department and keeping daily jobs on track
- Tackling repairs with the confidence of someone who’s wrestled Victorian plumbing — and won
- Keeping our facilities safe, functional, and fabulous (from rooftop to basement)
- Scheduling and managing planned maintenance, while staying cool during the odd emergency fix (because pipes don’t care if it’s Pride weekend)
- Working with local contractors and suppliers — friendly, firm, and fluent in “just popping round”
- Being the unsung hero behind every guest’s perfect stay

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
