A well-established commercial heating, cooling, and renewables contractor is looking for a Technical Maintenance Manager to run its maintenance department.
You'll lead the supervisors and engineers delivering planned, reactive, and cyclical maintenance on commercial heating systems, and you'll report to the Technical & Compliance Manager.
It's a hands-on leadership role. You'll own service quality, compliance, and tendering, and you'll help shape where the maintenance business goes next.
What you'll be doing
- Leading and developing Maintenance Supervisors, Engineers, and support staff, including training reviews and 1-2-1s
- Preparing technical quotes, tenders, and maintenance contracts, and running the site surveys behind them
- Keeping everything compliant with Gas Safe, HSE, and manufacturer requirements
- Stepping in on complex fault-finding and repairs when the team needs you
- Working directly with clients on system performance, upgrades, and energy efficiency improvements
- Setting and tracking KPIs for quality, response times, and customer satisfaction, backed by audits and inspections
- Managing tools, spares, and stock so service isn't interrupted
- Driving risk assessment, business continuity planning, and emergency response
- Spotting opportunities to grow service offerings and energy-saving solutions

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
