Role Description

The Maintenance Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Hove, responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations within the residential community. This role includes:

The Maintenance Manager plans and implements preventive maintenance programs, manages service requests, and works closely with operations and customer service teams to ensure a high-quality living environment for residents. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Inspecting properties
  • Prioritizing work orders
  • Supervising contractors
  • Maintaining compliance with health and safety standards
  • Monitoring maintenance budgets and inventories

The role also involves identifying opportunities to improve building performance, supporting sustainability initiatives, and ensuring timely communication with residents and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated supervisory skills, including leading maintenance teams and coordinating work schedules.
  • Strong equipment maintenance knowledge, including troubleshooting building systems and managing vendor support.
  • Experience planning and executing preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
  • Proven maintenance management capabilities, including prioritizing work orders, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Hands-on maintenance and repair skills across common building trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry) or the ability to effectively coordinate specialists.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, colleagues, and contractors.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on safety and quality.
  • Experience in residential property, facilities, or real estate environments is beneficial; familiarity with ESG and sustainability practices is an advantage.
  • Relevant technical qualification or trade certification in building maintenance, engineering, or a related field preferred.
