Maintenance Manager

Location: Kings Lynn

Hours: Monday-Friday

Lead Engineering Excellence. Drive Reliability. Deliver Continuous Improvement.

Pilgrim's Europe is looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our engineering function and play a key role in driving operational performance, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement across the site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven engineering leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about developing teams, improving asset performance, and creating a proactive maintenance culture.

What You'll Be Doing

As Maintenance Manager, you will lead and develop the engineering team, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of all site equipment and facilities. Working closely with the Site Engineering Manager, you will help drive the transition from reactive maintenance to a planned, improvement-focused culture.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a multi-skilled engineering team.
  • Driving site performance through improved uptime, efficiency, and asset reliability.
  • Managing engineering budgets, labor costs, and departmental KPIs.
  • Ensuring effective preventative maintenance programs are delivered through SAP.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve performance.
  • Managing engineering projects, contractor control, and statutory compliance activities.
  • Maintaining audit-ready standards across safety, hygiene, quality, and engineering compliance.
  • Developing succession plans and ensuring team capability through training and mentoring.
  • Collaborating closely with Production, Planning, and Technical teams to achieve site objectives.
  • Ensuring maintenance records, SOPs, and risk assessments remain current and compliant.

Essential

  • HNC qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a management or supervisory engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) systems.
  • Understanding of engineering compliance, permits to work, safe systems of work, and HSE requirements.
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets and engineering resources.
  • Strong people management, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and operational performance.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Knowledge of SAP maintenance management systems.
  • Experience implementing asset care and reliability improvement programs.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
