Maintenance Manager
Working Pattern: 5 over 7, 40 hours per week
Location: Leicester, LE3 8JR
The Role
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for managing and leading the engineering functions in our fast-paced production facility. They will be involved in managing engineers, Capital Expenditure, Man Management of all engineering staff, and the Plant reliability. The Ideal candidate will come from a fast-paced manufacturing background and be highly motivated to make a positive impact.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure the delivery of an effective maintenance programme.
- Work collaboratively with our Operations, Hygiene, Technical, and Engineering teams to plan and schedule all maintenance activities including breakdowns, scheduled compliance works, and pre-planned maintenance.
- Actively engage and promote an effective health and safety culture.
- Lead the Engineering Management team to ensure we are always audit ready, including contractor permit completion, blade logs, handback forms, etc.
- Utilize our CMMS maintenance system, including adequate use of the PPM schedule, work requests, and work orders.
- Ensure we have sufficient spare parts, and an embedded process to replace parts when used.
- Review plant maintenance and look for continuous improvement opportunities to decrease breakdowns, and effectively and efficiently make the most of pre-planned maintenance windows.
- Report leading and lagging planning KPIs to the weekly engineering meeting.
- Responsible for 3rd party planning – service contracts, compliance visits, annual servicing.
- Responsible for delivering your site's budget, as well as having input to the budget for the following year.
- Ensure our engineering team is being managed effectively, including management of absence, poor performance, as well as developing their skills where necessary.
- Lead and support your engineering team to land all capital projects on time and to budget.
- Responsible for the training and development of your team to ensure your department delivers an effective and efficient maintenance.

About You
At Geary’s, we look for people who show up every day to do their best. We’re a passionate, friendly team and look for the same qualities in our new recruits. We firmly believe your attitude and approach is just as important (if not, more so) than the skills and experience on your CV.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a similar role within the FMCG (ideally food) manufacturing sector.
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience, Min L3.
- Knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems, PLC, HMI, Robots, and drives is essential.
- Strong people management, planning, and process control skills. Ability to manage staff according to policies and procedures.
- Must be a self-starter, able to analyze performance and look for opportunities to improve.
- Awareness of H&S, Quality, and Food Safety.
- Project Management and Continuous Improvement experience.
- Able to produce reports detailing OEE, downtime, budgetary performance, trends, etc.
