Guthrie House Care Home

Guthrie House Care Home, located in Edinburgh, provides high quality Residential, Nursing, Dementia, Respite and Palliative Care in a warm and welcoming environment. Set in the peaceful surroundings of South East Edinburgh, the home is known for its compassionate approach, strong community spirit, and dedication to delivering exceptional care.

Maintenance Officer Contract

  • Salary: £14.50 per hour
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Shifts: Monday to Friday, 9AM - 5PM or 8AM - 4PM
  • Benefits: Paid PVG, pension and uniform provided
  • Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks (based on a full time contract)

Working independently and alongside the wider management team, you will take responsibility for the day to day maintenance and upkeep of the home while helping ensure the building, equipment and surrounding environment remain safe, functional and well presented at all times. From carrying out repairs and routine maintenance to supporting larger improvement projects, maintaining outdoor spaces and ensuring health and safety checks are completed, your contribution will help keep the home running smoothly and efficiently.

This role is ideal for someone with strong maintenance experience who enjoys practical problem solving, takes pride in maintaining high standards and understands how important a safe and well cared for environment is in supporting the comfort, wellbeing and daily experience of residents, visitors and colleagues throughout the home.

What Matters Most

  • Previous maintenance, facilities or general building maintenance experience is essential
  • Strong practical skills with confidence carrying out repairs, maintenance and general upkeep
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures and ability to identify potential risks
  • Ability to manage workload independently while responding effectively to day to day maintenance priorities
  • Reliable, proactive and professional approach with strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Genuine pride in maintaining safe, functional and well presented environments
