Overview
Dunelm's Distribution Centres in Stoke-on-Trent are looking to recruit a skilled and motivated Maintenance Operative to support our growing operation. There has never been a better time to join us.
As the UK's leading home furnishings retailer, our distribution centres play a vital role in ensuring products reach our stores and customers efficiently. Working as part of our maintenance team, you'll help keep our operation running smoothly by carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities, supporting a safe working environment, and ensuring equipment and facilities are maintained to a high standard.
Our colleagues are at the heart of everything we do, and you'll play a key role in supporting the operational success of one of the UK's most successful retailers.
What you'll be doing
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities across the distribution centre.
- Completing routine inspections and pre-planned checks to identify and address potential issues.
- Responding to maintenance requests and prioritising reactive repairs to minimise operational disruption.
- Supporting the upkeep and maintenance of warehouse equipment, fixtures and facilities.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and issuing appropriate safety documentation where required.
- Working closely with the Dunelm Maintenance Department and external contractors when necessary.
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety and operational efficiency.
- Supporting the wider distribution centre operation with maintenance-related projects and tasks as required.

- Previous experience within a maintenance, facilities, engineering or similar hands-on role.
- A proactive approach with the ability to identify issues and resolve them effectively.
- Good practical problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the operation.
- A flexible approach and willingness to support a variety of maintenance tasks as business needs require.
- The ability to work independently whilst also contributing positively as part of a team.
- A reliable and dependable attitude with a commitment to delivering high standards of work.
- Basic maintenance skills across areas such as mechanical, electrical, building maintenance or facilities management would be advantageous.
- A positive, "can do" attitude and a desire to contribute to the success of the distribution centre.
